Income Restricted Apartments

Housing guidance with official sources

Using the published 2026 income limits in your housing search

Check the applicable dataset and property rules. A new annual table doesn’t, by itself, set your eligibility or change your rent.

Editorial review: . How we check information. Confirm application status and unit details with the provider.

What our income tool shows

Our income tool uses official HUD MTSP data and shows the fiscal year, effective date and retrieval information. The published comparison contains the current standard tables used by the tool.

What to do with a new table

  1. Confirm the property’s county and program.
  2. Use the row for your household size and the unit designation.
  3. Ask management whether standard, special or preserved limits apply.
  4. Provide the income documents required for the current application.

A new table is not a rent notice

Eligibility limits, maximum program rents and your lease rent are different things. TDHCA’s tenant resources explain the relevant tools. Ask the provider how a new limit affects the particular unit; do not assume your bill or eligibility changes automatically.

Automatic data updates have limits

Our data refresh checks the imported figures before they go live and keeps the last valid dataset if an import fails. It does not review every lease, call properties or rewrite advice automatically. The source and effective dates help you see what the tool actually uses.
